چکیده

Background: Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is common in patients with mitral valve disease. Objective: To determine the factors associated PH among disease, and similarities differences subgroups of stenosis (MS) regurgitation (MR). Materials Methods: Patients isolated moderate to severe organic disease were prospectively enrolled. was defined echocardiographically as pulmonary artery systolic pressure more than 50 mmHg. MS who had area 1.5 cm² MR effective regurgitant orifice less 20 mm² excluded. Results: Three hundred eighteen a mean age 54.3±15.5 years including 57.6% female 66.7% included this study. present 119 (37.4%), 48.1% 31.8% MR. Severe reported 245 (77.0%). Left atrial (LA) diameter significantly higher MS. Dyspnea, LA volume index, significant tricuspid regurgitation, presence independently PH. Among MS, index Significant Conclusion: were, common, Keywords: Mitral regurgitation; stenosis; hypertension; Rheumatic heart

Pulsed doppler echocardiographic study of mitral stenosis.

The value of pulsed Doppler echocardiography in the assessment of mitral stenosis was studied in a consecutive series of 175 patients before rightand left-heart catheterization. All Doppler recordings were interpreted independently by two observers. Twenty patients had repeat studies to demonstrate the reproducibility of the method. Adequate recordings were obtained in 156 patients. A normal fl...

Mitral Valve Stenosis after Open Repair Surgery for Non-rheumatic Mitral Valve Regurgitation: A Review

Mitral stenosis (MS) after mitral valve (MV) repair is a slowly progressive condition, usually detected many years after the index MV surgery. It is defined as a mean transmitral pressure gradient (TMPG) >5 mmHg or a mitral valve area (MVA) <1.5 cm(2). Pannus formation around the mitral annulus or extending to the mitral leaflets is suggested as the main mechanism for developing delayed MS afte...

mitral regurgitation after percutaneous balloon mitral valvotomy in patients with rheumatic mitral stenosis: a single-center study

background: percutaneous balloon mitral valvotomy (bmv) is the gold standard treatment for rheumatic mitral stenosis (ms) in that it causes significant changes in mitral valve area (mva) and improves leaflet mobility. development of or increase in mitral regurgitation (mr) is common after bmv. this study evaluated mr severity and its changes after bmv in iranian patients. methods: w e prospecti...

Mitral valve area in combined mitral stenosis and regurgitation.

Eight patients with mixed mitral stenosis and regurgitation underwent hemodynamic and angiographic study prior to mitral valve replacement. The stenotic orifice of the mitral valve was calculated employing the total left ventricular stroke volume by cineangiography as the numerator of the Gorlin Formula. Excellent agreement with the measured orifice of the mitral valve was obtained using a valu...

[Doppler echocardiographic variables and the type of surgery to be performed in rheumatic mitral valve regurgitation].

In our country, rheumatic disease is still one of the most prevalent causes of mitral valve regurgitation. Unlike mitral valve regurgitation caused by myxomatous degeneration or ischemic disease, that caused by rheumatic disease may have restriction and thickening of the leaflets, and marked abnormalities in the subvalvular region 1, which are also commonly associated with valvular stenosis. Rh...
